The African Crop Science Society invites you to attend the 13th African Crop Science Conference to be held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on the theme “Realizing Food Security in Africa through Smart Agriculture”. The Conference will emphasize on the role of research for providing new and improved livelihood opportunities for farmers in Africa through smart agriculture, which will impact on their income generation and food security. Aspects such as agronomy, horticulture, crop improvement and physiology, post harvest handling and food sciences, rural socio-economics, agricultural extension and education, agricultural economics, agricultural microbiology, crop genetics and biotechnology, agricultural chemistry, integration of livestock in crop production, soils and agricultural engineering sciences, water sciences, environmental sciences, biodiversity and natural resources management will, therefore, be covered.
Date of the Conference: The conference will be held from 17 to 19 October 2019
Conference Venue: The conference will take place at The African Union Conference Center, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
Program Highlights: The conference will have a three day program of events, which will include several scientific sessions. Plenary sessions, with keynote speakers, two to four parallel sessions and poster exhibitions will be included.
Transportation: Bole International Airport, for domestic and international flights, is located in the city. A shuttle service will be operating between the airport and hotels, during the main arrival and departure dates. Taxi services are also available throughout the day at the airport and main hotels. Transport will be arranged between the private accommodation and the main conference venue.
Accommodation: Delegates can be accommodated in Hotel at the rate of $50-$80 per day breakfast included. A list of private accommodation in Hotels and Guest Houses will follow in the second announcement.
Registration: The registration fee is $300 (US) for early registration and $500 (US) for late registration. Registration fee for students is $150 for early registration and $250 for late registration. The fee for includes a conference bag, welcome function, lunches, coffee, closing reception and transport (from hotel and to the conference hall).
Health Certificate: Health authorities of Ethiopia require an international certificate of vaccination for example yellow fever.
Visa Regulations: The Ethiopian authorities require a visa for delegates from certain countries. All African citizens can collect VISA on arrival. More details will be available at the respective Ethiopian Embassy.
