Call for abstracts

The organizing Committee of the 13th African Crop Science Society (ACSS) Conference invites authors to submit abstracts to be considered for oral and poster presentation at the conference.

Abstracts should be submitted using online submission platform not later than the deadline, 15th June 2019. Upon completion of the submission process you will receive an automatic confirmation.

The conference theme

The 13th ACSS conference theme is “Realizing Food Security in Africa through Smart Agriculture”. Aspects such as agronomy, horticulture, crop improvement and physiology, post harvest handling and food sciences, rural socio-economics and agricultural extension and education, agricultural economics, agricultural microbiology, crop genetics and biotechnology, agricultural chemistry, integration of livestock in crop production, soils and agricultural engineering sciences, water sciences, environmental sciences, biodiversity and natural resources management will, therefore, be covered.

 Selection and notification process

Notification of acceptance of contributions will be made by the end of July 2019. Abstracts (in English or French) should not exceed 350 words. They should be formatted in Times New Roman, 12 pt font size, single space, and presented as follows: Title in capital letters; Surname and initials of the authors in capital letters; Authors’ affiliation and email addresses. The abstract, in one paragraph, should contain information concerning objectives of the study, materials and methods, results, conclusions and keywords.

Oral presentations

The presentation of the selected papers is limited to 15 minutes including 5 min discussion. All authors are invited to prepare their oral communications using PowerPoint.

Posters

The presentations on posters will be made on a surface of 90 cm x 90 cm. All the text should be readable at a distance of 2 meters. Although posters will be on display throughout the conference, contributors will be provided posters session(s) when they will be expected to be available to discuss their posters.
